Summary: -The Emergency Services Registered Nurse promotes and
restores patients' health by completing the nursing process of
assessment, planning, implementation, and evaluation of nursing
care for a given population based upon age specific and cultural
needs. This is done in a collaborative multidisciplinary approach
embracing quality and safety and providing physical and
psychological support along the healthcare continuum. -Performs
plan of care intervention, including medication administration,
specimen collection, clinical treatments, as well as other medical
care treatment.Documents patient care given.Monitors, records, and
communicates patient condition as appropriate to care team,
physician, patient, and family.Assists patients with performing
activities of daily living, including personal hygiene,
elimination, nutrition, and ambulation.Collaborates as needed
across disciplines to coordinate patient care, including patient
transfer, discharge, referral and spiritual/psychosocial support
needs.Evaluates learning needs of patient and/or family and
provides patient/family education appropriate to age, culture,
condition, and circumstances.Works as an advocate for the physical
and emotional well-being of the patient.Performs triage while
considering both physical and psychosocial elements. (after (1) ONE
year of employment)Works directly under physicians, assisting them
during exams, diagnostic testing and treatments.Prepares and
administers the prescribed/ordered medications and administers them
under the 5 Rights.Reports adverse reactions to medications or
treatments in accordance with the policy regarding the
administration of the medications by a licensed registered
nurse.Reports any suspected abuse to the appropriate
agencies.Promotes culture of safety for patients and employees
through proper identification, reporting, documentation and
prevention.Adheres to infection control polices and protocols,
medication administration and storage procedures, and controlled
substances regulations.Maintains competency and knowledge through
current standards of practice, trends and developments in related
scope of job role or practice.Initiates patient education plan, as
prescribed by the physician.Teaches the patient and significant
others how to manage their illness/injury, by explaining;
post-treatment home care needs, diet/nutrition/exercise programs,
self administration of medications and rehabilitation, as well as
provide referrals to other healthcare professionals for follow-up
treatment.Displays professionalism while completing multiple urgent
tasks in a timely manner.Follows facility and OSHA safety rules and
procedures while on assignment.Respects cultural and religious
practices of the patients.Upholds HIPAA regulations.Charge Nurse
DutiesDemonstrates Competency and Professional Responsibility in
the Charge Nurse RoleMakes Staff AssignmentsShift hand-off with
off-going Charge RNCounts Narcotics (Both shifts)Checks crash
cartsManages disposition of expirations within ER/Crash carts
etc.Checks negative pressure roomsChecks equipment and ensures it
is present and in proper working orderManage discharge call
backs-For five (5) patients from prior day (Day Shift)Discharge
rounding on five (5) patientsReview cultures and call/treat as
advisedCharge Nurse Report-Communicates any issues for Director
follow-upEnvironmental Assessment-Ensure rooms stocked, equipment
set up and in working order, IV pumps charged/available.Manages
transfers In/OutManage employees in relation to job
accountabilitiesAdjust staffing related to department volume and
need (call-outs, flexing)Ensure SIM reports are completed by
appropriate staff within 24 hours of event. For example:*Falls*Skin
